RE: APPEAL FOR HOSTEL TO BE BUILT FOR DAMAI DISABLED MEMBERS.
Damai is non-profitable organization representing Malaysian Disabled form all walks of life, which was formed by the disabled in 1998. Damai has been managed by the disabled themselves for the past thirteen years and Damai have helped thousands of disabled and non-disabled in various aspects. We have been running our association for the past 13 years from 1998 by putting up bazaar sales, organizing charity dinner with show and also sending out appeal letters for donations.
Our mission is to assist as many disabled persons to live a normal independent life through our activities and rehabilitation. These activities range from imparting job-related skills to education and to financial assistance. Since 1998, thousands of disabled persons have benefited from our activities. At present, there are 150 registered members in our Association.
Damai is now planning to build hostel facilities to cater the accommodation needs of its members. At the moment, our building can only accommodate two members at one time
Accordingly, we have initiated a plan to build a hostel, with the hope to accommodate more members in future. This will enable them to take part in our activities and gain the necessary skills to live life independently in line with Damai’s vision. Upon completion of the said hostel, we will be able to provide accommodation for 30 members at any one time.
